The Voice Of Perfection!



 Madhurapuri. Known for its Meenakshi Amman Temple and her ethereal looks and M.S Subbulakshmi or Madurai Shanmukavadivu Subbulakshmi and her ethereal voice. She was arguably the Queen of Carnatic Music who contributed a lot to music and also is known as the Queen of the Poor as she donated a lot towards the needy.


Heavenly and Divine Voice!

           
Her voice is mesmerizing. Anybody who doesn’t like  Carnatic Music, can be easily addicted to her voice and Carnatic Music! She gave her first concert to an audience of Fifty, singing Anandagaana Harina*. She was spotted by a talent spotter from H.M.V, and recorded the song Marakata Vadivu*, which was an instant superhit. The noted Hindustani vocalist, Narayanrao  Vyas has taught Subbulakshmi the famous Thumri*, Shyama Sundara, which She sang in future concerts.


She was married to  Tyagaraja Sadashivam in 1940. He became the only force in her life, from concerts to films, he supported her career. Her success as a film star grew after she played roles like Shakuntala and Meera. Sarojini Naidu had said that She was the True Nightingle Of India.  Noted Hindustani vocalist Bade Ghulam Ali Khan said that she is the Queen of the good note of music, or ‘Suswaralakshmi’. She was awarded the Bharat Ratna, for her concert for the U.N day, at Carneige hall in New York. The musical legend passed away in December 2, 2004, but lives on through her music and Sparkling Legacy.
