What Happened?

So, before we get into the meat and potatoes of this particular journal, I just want to wish all of you a safe quarantine period! Hopefully you can use the sheer amount of free time we have due to a lockdown in India right now to much better and productive uses than I have: p ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s been a year, almost two, since I ever posted on this website. What happened? Let me explain. To be brutally and respectfully honest, I don’t know myself. I just, lost all enthusiasm and inspiration I once housed for writing. When I first started writing, and, even reading for that matter, was because I was coerced by my loving (begrudgingly, if I say so myself,) sister, telling me to read some ‘real stuff’; not only those boring and apparently ‘tasteless’ Amar Chitra Katha comics! That conversation enlightened me on a few aspects of my personality. It helped me realize that I a

It has been a long time since my family shifted from Bangalore to the comparatively small Manchester of the south, Coimbatore and trust me, I hated this decision so much. Yes, I was a little sceptical abut it at the start as I really enjoyed my five years in Bangalore. We lived in Malleshwaram, which if you didn’t know is the Tamil hub of Bangalore and had my school and an ice – cream centre along with a temple right next to my apartment. I went to drawing class and Shloka [prayer] class every week, and I just loved my life. I still love those five years in ‘Bangs’ as I used to call it, but the prospect of moving back to Coimbatore was both exciting and scary. It was exciting because I was like two years old when my family shifted to Bangalore and I hardly remembered about anything that happened during that time, and I was practically going to live in a new city, study in a completely new school with hopefully new friends and live in my home, which is the only thing I remembered from

It was the sole existence of my life, yet it was the bane of my existence. It was the goal of my life, yet it was my enemy.   It was my destiny, yet it was unable to reach. I don’t want to sound dramatic and all, but it is true! And one more surprise, I finally got it! Before you break your head thinking about what it is, please see and identify what it is! Yes! This is it! Yes, it is my very own Nintendo DSi! Not just a normal one, an XL version of it! Yes, yes… it is over eleven years old and it is very cheap in the U.S., etc., but I am an Indian, so even a Pokemon game for the DSi is around Rs. 3150, and even that is a spinoff game! Guys, if you did not know already, I am a Pokemon Geek! I’m crazy about these Pocket Monsters and I want to become one of those PokeTubers [Pokemon youtubers. Welcome!] After my studies. I just discovered that there are over 8+ Pokemon games for the Nintendo DSi. This got me going. I checked the price of a Nintendo DSi at amazon and g

When I visited Madurai for the first time I was mesmerized by the beauty of Meenakshi, the elegance of Azhagar, the magnificent Murugan at Pazhmudir Cholai and finally, the marvel of the Thirumalai Nayakkar palace. I was enchanted by the sheer brilliance of all architects and artisans who helped in the construction of the following places. I just never wanted to go back to my regular life when I was at this city! I was around third grade when I first visited the city and I wanted to feel mesmerized by visiting Madurai again, but I never got the chance to do so until almost eighth grade, before my term exams. My cousins from the U.S.A. had come to visit us and they wanted to visit Guruvayoor. I did not have any problem with their wish but I suggested a slightly better place. Yes, you all guessed it, Madurai, and my cousins enthusiastically agreed. We had agreed to visit Pazhani on the way back home, as none of us had visited Pazhani before. They were here for only a week, so we

A still from the movie Chinnada Gombe She was an iconic and flamboyant Actor, Writer, Leader, Dancer and Singer. She had developed a run – down state after the tyrannical rule of the opposition. She gave the poor and needy of the state a comfortable life. She was the boldest politician India had ever seen. You might be wondering who this person is. It is none other than the ‘Golden Maiden or the ‘Amma’ of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa! Jayalalithaa Jayaraman was born in Melukote, Mandya district, in the then Mysore state [ now Karnataka]. Interestingly, her name is derived from the 2 villas her family owned, Jaya vilas and Lalitha vilas! Her father was a lawyer but he never worked and squandered most of the money they had acquired as he died when little Jaya was 2 years old! She and her Mother had moved to her parental grandfather’s house in Srirangam where he worked for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. A still from a tamil Superhit, Aayiratthil oruvan. When Jaya lived
